Zaiwalla & Co is pleased to announce that Dayaar Singla has been awarded the Ratanshaw Bomanji Zaiwalla Scholarship for the 2025–26 academic year. He will be undertaking the Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL) at the University of Oxford, one of the world’s most prestigious postgraduate law programmes.

Dayaar’s legal and policy work is centred on advancing justice in the digital age, with a particular interest in technology, regulation, and fundamental rights in India. His experience spans constitutional law, commercial litigation, and digital governance. He has clerked for Justice D.Y. Chandrachud, then Chief Justice of India, and served as Junior Counsel to Ritin Rai, Senior Advocate (BCL, 1997), representing major banks, multinational corporations, and global technology companies in high-profile disputes.

A Focus on Law and Technology

Alongside his practice, Dayaar has consistently paired academic achievement with civic engagement. A graduate of NALSAR University of Law, where he was named Best All-Round Student, he founded the NALSAR Litigation & Advocacy Project, training more than 300 lawyers to assist vulnerable communities during India’s citizenship crisis. He has also contributed to international research projects with Avaaz (USA), the Atlantic Council (Washington D.C.), and Santa Clara University School of Law, where he testified before the U.S. Trade Representative’s Special 301 Interagency Panel.

Academic Excellence and Civic Impact

As the eighth recipient of the Ratanshaw Bomanji Zaiwalla Scholarship since its establishment in 2017, Dayaar will deepen his expertise in regulatory frameworks and comparative jurisprudence during his studies at Oxford. His long-term ambition is to establish a policy think-tank in India to bridge scholarship and advocacy, shaping ethical and inclusive technology law for the Global South.
